Reasons Mice Return To Your Home
Mice can have multiple reasons for returning to a property. The main reason they are likely successful is that some aspect of the original exclusion failed or was incomplete. Another reason is that homeowners may unknowingly provide continued motivation for mice to remain on the property. If you are trying to figure out why mice are returning to your home, consider one of the top four reasons.1. Easy Access to Food
The main reason rodents return to homes is access to food. If you leave dirty dishes in the sink or don't keep garbage in sealed containers, mice will smell anything edible and find a way to gain access. Mice opportunistic eaters, so you want to avoid making it easy for them to get a meal on your property, especially in your home or near it.2. Unsealed Holes and Gaps
Exclusion, a method used by humane wildlife control services, only works if the service effectively seals all holes and gaps in a house. Mice will usually have multiple entrances into a property. If the service fails to find and seal all of them, mice will return to their nests. Think about how you would respond if someone tried kicking you out of your home. Would you leave or would you try to find a way back inside?
