How do Raccoons Behave in the Warmer Seasons?
In warmer climates raccoons scurry about on the outside, and occasionally inside, seeking food. They tend to remain in their dens during the day, except for a few of the more daring ones who are more familiar with human activity. At night, especially the later parts of the night, raccoons spring into action, rummaging through garbage disposal sites and other sources of food. Of course, the result of this activity can be a huge mess that many homeowners find in the morning. What are Some Typical Raccoon Activities in the Winter?
Raccoons don’t hibernate. They do spend more time indoors during the winter so it may appear as though they have gone into hibernation, but the truth is that they remain pretty active during this time. Even though they do less during the winter than they do during warmer seasons, you still need to be on the lookout for them. The thing that tricks many homeowners into thinking that raccoons won’t be a problem in the winter is the fact that they don’t see them around as often. The fact that you don’t see raccoons though, doesn’t mean that they aren’t busy behind the scenes. And if they stay inside for long enough you will soon see serious structural damage and the inhabitants of the property will be exposed to the diseases that are associated with raccoons.
